ILWU 502 Port Planners issue Strike Notice To Global Container Terminals

According to the Global Container Terminals Memorandum, the agreement with ILWU 502 representing the Port Planners & Assistant Planners have advised a 72 hour strike notice.  The notice was issued Sept 3rd and if a strike goes into effect it will commence Sept 7th at 0001.  The Planners represents approximately 50 people however GCT has indicated that if the strike goes into effect it would have to suspend operations at Deltaport and Vanterm due to the essential nature of this function.

CIFFA has indicated that they have sent a written letter to the federal government urging that it to “use all the tools at its disposal in bringing negotiations to a successful and rapid conclusion, whether through mediation, binding arbitration or any other means“.
